What is PlatformManager?

The role of PlatformManager is to allow us (anyone with a PlatformManager login) to administer and maintain our unique Pricefx assets like partitions and IntegrationManager instances.

By using PlatformManager, we can perform all of the necessary partition management activities; creating, cloning, migrating and deleting, perform version control management, managing access entitlements and creating new users).

Additionally, we can use it to create and manage our IntegrationManager instances and perform common tasks; updating IM details, starting and stopping instances and deleting our instance) . The role of the IntegrationManager instance will be to manage the connection to our partition and through this connect it will allows us to perform data uploads, schedule data migrations and install Pricefx Accelerators.

How is it used within a project?

Once we have defined our user requirements and developed our data model, the next step would the creation of our partition(s) for our project. The starting point of actually building the Pricefx solution will be the implementing of partitions for dev, qa and production variants.

Depending on your role and access rights, through the PlatformManager product we can do the following:

  • Create and manage all my partitions

  • Upload master data into partitions (Customer and extensions, Product and extensions, price parameters, transactions, etc)

  • Manage users and their permissions

  • Manage my combinations of partitions and integrations using Asset Groups.

  • Create and manage my Business Roles

  • Configure and setup an SSO

What are common PlatformManager scenarios?

The PlatformManager product can be used for these common project-related scenarios:

  • Creation of a dev partition for my project.

  • Perform upload of data into partition’s Product master table

  • View and modify partition feature flags

  • Setup alerts and notifications rules for integration processes

  • Manage and administer my integrations (routes, mappings, connections, etc)

  • View partition activity and deployment log files

  • Create and manage user groups, asset groups and business roles for partitions

  • Request version upgrades for your Pricefx cluster

  • Configure your instance for single sign-on (SSO) using Identity Provider (Salesforce, Active Directory, etc)

  • Use integration templates linked to your partition for importing or exporting data

  • Installation of Accelerators or Accelerator Packages into your partition

  • View approval workflows for activities within PlatformManager (partition creation, permission assignments, etc)

PlatformManager Key Capabilities

The capabilities of PlatformManager are separated into key sections; Account, Marketplace, Product Requests and Administration.

Account

This area will summarize for the specific customer or partner account and includes information on; partitions, integrations, notifications, log files, reports. user access, cluster upgrades and SSO. This area will start with the display of the account dashboard:

Partition Listing

We also have access to a listing of all of the partitions that are related to the account that has been assigned to when your PlatformManager login was created. From this listing we can perform a range of partition specific actions (clone, move, delete, etc) as well as the ability to create a new partition:

Integration Listing

Through PlatformManager, we are able to view all of the IntegrationManager instances that have been created for our account. The role of these IM instances is to allow us to control the uploading of data from external systems into our Pricefx partition and the exporting of data from our partition too.

The IntegrationManager product is a proven solution for performing all of the data integration needs and is the implementation tool for industry-standard integration design patterns.

Notification Listing

This will provide a listing of all notifications generated for an account, based on the definitions in the Notification Rules section. For each individual notification we can see its Module information (Platform / Partition / Integration) and when it was triggered.

Through this listing we are notified if and when jobs or tasks at a partition level, or a route in integration instance, reach a certain status. The tasks that appear here are typically calculations and Data Loads running at a Data Source or Datamart.
