X-Ray is a test management add-on in Jira that allows for all testing-related activities to be done within Jira. It provides real-time indexing of tests, enabling full control of the testing process. X-Ray offers features such as traceability reports to identify correct or incorrect tests, orchestration and integration with frameworks like Cucumber and JIRA, and the ability to link requirements to test cases.

The configuration of X-Ray is easy and safe, and it provides advantages such as visibility of testing activities for the project team, test case review with the team or customer, and the ability to have regression tests and smoke tests in JIRA.

 

Basic Objectives

  • Learn where tests were correct or wrong using traceability reports

  • Use of orchestration and integration with frameworks (Cucumber and JIRA)

  • Link or requirements to test cases

Basic info:

  • X-Ray is in JIRA, but it needs to be configured for the project by the project admin

  • The configuration is easy and is safe even for running projects

  • Basic advantages:

    • test cases are in JIRA and linked to user stories

    • testing activities are visible for the project team

    • test results are visible for PM at the end of feature sprints

    • review of test cases with the team or the customer is easy

    • allows us to have regression tests and smoke tests in JIRA
