Strategy Designer-Price Parameter (Reference)

When performing our data lookups, one of the categories that we will be accessing are our Price Parameter (or, Company Parameter) tables. These tables can contain a wide variety of variables that could be used as part of our pricing strategy (ie. cost adjustments, freight charges, etc.). Through the Data Lookup panel, we are able to create customized data queries that can return specific values from these tables, then these values can be used in our pricing strategies.

Here is an example of a Price Parameter data lookup:

  1. This refers to the name of the Price Parameter table that will be used for our data lookup. Only those tables that have at least one defined column will be included in this list.

  2. This will include one or more attributes columns from the selected table that can be used to define our search criteria. These will reflect the known key field(s) for the selected table.

  3. This will be the selected attribute column from the selected table whose value we are attempting to retrieve.

Table Name

The list of price parameter tables will vary by each installation, however there are a set of default tables (based on the Price Setting package) that are part of the standard configuration. We click on the drop-down in the Pricing Parameter Lookup to see all tables:

NOTE: Once a table has been selected, then the list of search attribute columns will be displayed with the ability to connect specific values for each attribute.

Search Attributes

The selected price parameter table will have a predefined set of attribute columns that are designated for search purposes. These search attributes will appear immediately below the selected table. In the following example, we have selected the Categories table:

After selecting the Categories table, we can see that there are now two search attributes that can be defined (Configurator and Category Name). If we know the values of any of these attributes, then we can create a lookup for specific values:

In the above example, we have associated the value of “*” with each of our search attributes using the functionality within the Constants option. This will only return rows that contain these specific values. If the search doesn’t find any matching rows, then no value is returned. We can view results in Live Preview:

NOTE: The query associated with your data lookup is executed automatically after every update made to the search attribute values.

Live Preview

The Live Preview will contain both the set of rows from the Price Parameter table and the results data lookup based on your search criteria. In the following example, we are using Discount table and have defined specific values for its search attributes (industry, business unit and product group category).

NOTE: The Discount table was created with a primary key comprised of industry, business unit and the product group category. Only with all three of these attributes defined can we return a value.

With all three elements of the key defined in our search, when we review the Live Preview panel, we will see the specific value for Discount % (attribute1) being returned:
