What are Rebate Condition Types

Here we'll be exploring a range of different rebate condition types set up in the Pricefx Demo system. This is not an exhaustive list of conditions, but rather an insight into how the system works and what is possible.

Rebates conditions come into play in a variety of ways in a Rebate Agreement, such as rebates based on percentage growth targets, rebates based on volume sold or a multi layered target agreement with different tiers of rebates based on the volume of goods sold.

Today you'll be exploring a range of different rebate condition types set up in the Pricefx Demo system. This is not an exhaustive list of conditions, but rather an insight into how the system works and what is possible.

Rebates conditions come into play in a variety of ways in a Rebate Agreement, such as rebates based on percentage growth targets, rebates based on volume sold, or a multi-layered target agreement with different tiers of rebates based on the volume of goods sold.

Typical Rebate agreements are set for a specific timeframe, also known as the economic period, and can include a customer's entire product portfolio or a specific grouping or selection of products.

Customizing your Condition Types allows you to set them up to meet your specific requirements.

Items Tab

Within the Rebate Agreement, you see condition types in the Items tab, as shown here. The Items you add here are the condition types that have been set up in the system, and understanding them will allow you to better prepare or troubleshoot rebate agreements.

Each line item in a Rebate Agreement is of a specific Condition Type, which specifies how and when the system calculates the output and can also specify user input parameters that provide data to the calculation.

Navigate to Condition Types in Pricefx

Look at a few examples within the system.

On the Rebates menu, navigate to the Condition Types to be presented with a full list of condition types that you have access to edit or view.

Here you can see some of the variances that you may have set up in your own system. These are naturally within this Demo system and so yours may look and act differently, but let's have a look at some common characteristics.

Here you can see information such as the Name and Label of the Condition Type, you can see when it was last updated and what calculation logic is applied to it. Further across you can see the payment period defined for that specific type as well as the type of rebate that this is.

Different Types of Condition Types

Click on the Fixed Percent Condition Type and see how it works. If you select it an Edit button will appear below for you to edit it. Click on that and a new window opens with all the configurable fields.

Now using the options you have three general different types of rebate conditions that you can configure.

They are:

  1. Rebates based on an existing calculation, this is for a fixed bonus amount or percentage, regardless of sales amount or volume. Here you can see them called

a. Fixed Amount and

b. Fixed Percentage

  1. Rebates with fixed payout frequencies, but based on a defined sales target, either per month, per quarter, half-yearly, or annually

  1. Rebates based on cumulative or roll-over of sales over a given period. For example, if a customer has a target of $100,000 with a rebate of $1000 if achieved, with a payout frequency of quarterly, if the cumulative sales across all quarters are not met no rebate is paid, however, if the cumulative sales value is achieved the rebate is paid across the previous quarters too.

Depending on the condition types set by your organization this is where they will be set up and managed.

These conditions types as shown earlier are what is presented to you when you create a new rebate agreement, so understanding what they are and how they are configured is an important part of creating rebate agreements.
