How to Set up Sales Compensation

This page provides a high-level overview of steps towards configuring the Sales Compensation module and creating a Compensation Plan and Records.

Before you start creating Compensation Plans, you must have at least:

  • A list of sellers (and possibly seller extensions with additional information) for which you will manage sales compensations.

  • Transactional data from which you will calculate the compensations.

  1. Create logics that will handle the compensation/commission processing and calculation:

    • Header logic – Calculations at Compensation Plan header level, user inputs including seller or seller group picker.

    • Pricing logic – Calculations at Compensation Plan line item level.

    • Workflow logics – Define the approval process of Compensation Plans and Compensation Records.

  2. Create Compensation Types – A template that allows users to quickly create a new Compensation Plan. The header and workflow logics are part of this template. You can have several templates for different types of compensation processings.

  3. Create Condition Types – A definition of line items that are the building blocks of every Compensation Plan. The pricing logic is part of the definition.

  4. Create a Compensation Plan.

  5. Configure and run calculation – for calculation of Compensation Records.

  6. Review records and integrate with your ERP system.
