Actionable Insights

For a Pricing Manager, Account Manager or Sales Director who is managing a pricing strategy, sales or relationships with customers, the Actionable Insights is an automated risk-detection and recommendations engine that identifies gaps and opportunities and recommends optimal corrective action.

For a Business Analyst who is executing analytical tasks, the Actionable Insights is an effective tool that allows to create tasks right away from the analytical screen.

The main features of Actionable Insights are:

  • Time-based scheduling

  • Risk/opportunity detection

  • Alert-based actions (data threshold alert, time periods comparison, segment comparison)

  • Setup of follow-up actions and alert notifications

  • Actions section on the Home page

  • Connection to the Notification Center

  • Creation of Actions/Problem detections from Dashboards

The basic building blocks of Actionable Insights are Watchers and Actions. A Watcher’s job is to detect trends in data defined by a set of rules. If a trend is detected, Watchers automatically create predefined Actions and assign them to users. Users can see these Actions on the Home page or the Actions page.

The Actionable Insights item in the Module menu becomes visible after the Actionable Insights Accelerator has been deployed or when you manually assign the Actionable Insights module to a Model Object or Custom Form on the Module Categories page.

Prerequisites

Deployment of the Actionable Insights Accelerator can be done self-service from PlatformManager.

  • At least one of the supported data sources (Datamart, Optimization Model, Simulation Datamart or Rollup) is available.

 

Watchers

  • The Actionable Insights Accelerator delivers predefined Watcher Types: Datamart Watcher and Dashboard Watcher. They can be selected when creating a new Watcher.

  • To create a new Watcher instance, go to Actionable Insights > Watchers and click Create New Watchers. Give the Watcher a name and label and select a Type (defined as a Model Class). Watchers can also be created from any chart type or from Customer Insights or Sales Insights dashboards.

Actions

  • Actions are tasks assigned to users. Besides a detailed description of the task, they can include supporting information in the form of dashboards, documents, notes, etc. (Only dashboards from the Customer Insights or Sales Insights Packages are supported.)

  • You can find Actions assigned to you at User Menu > Actions or in the My Actions portlet on the Home page.

  • Actions are created and assigned automatically by Watchers or you can create them manually from dashboards, charts or the Actions page.

Action Status

When working with actions, you can assign them different statuses so that you have an overview about done and pending items.

  • Open – The starting point.

  • Done – When the action is completed and all work done.

  • Blocked – To let other users know that the owner is blocked in work by something or someone.

  • Rejected – When the user decided not to do this action.

  • Postponed – To inform other users that work on this action will resume at a later date.
