Account Notifications

Notifications

You can get notified if and when jobs/tasks at a partition or a route in integration reach a certain status. The tasks are typically calculations and Data Loads running at a Data Source or Datamart. For routes you can check on their status (warning, error, success). You are notified either by email or in MS Teams or Slack channel (if defined). You can also set the notification for all partitions/integrations of the given account.

The Notifications section shows a list of all notifications generated for an account, based on the definitions in the Notification Rules section. For each notification you can see its Module (Platform / Partition / Integration) and when it was triggered.

If a notification cannot be delivered, it is marked with a yellow warning icon in the Fired column and in the hint you can see the reason, e.g. "Retries exhausted".

Using the Export CSV button at top right you can also download the list of notifications in the CSV format.

To see this section, you need to have the account permission Alerts - Read. To create and edit notifications, you need to have the account permission Alerts - Edit which needs to be approved in an approval workflow

In the Notification Rules section you can see a list of definitions set up for specific tasks/jobs/routes. For each definition you have these options:

  • Edit the notification rule. For details see How to Create/Edit Notification Rule.

  • Delete the selected notification rule.
If a "parent" Route or Partition are deleted from PlatformManager, their connected notifications are also deleted.

Alerts (Advanced Option)

This option is only for experienced users who are familiar with logging levels and log files structure. Inexpert usage can result in false positives and redundant alerts.

There is an alternative way to create alerts – by scanning the log file where you watch out for specific logging levels (errors, warnings etc.).

This option is enabled in Profile Settings in User Preferences.

Once enabled, the Alerts section will list both types of alerts – these technical ones and those described above. In addition, you will get a new section in the navigation tree on the left called Alert Rules.

Alert Rules

In the Alerts Rules section you can see a list of alert definitions set up for this IM instance. For each alert rule you have these options:

  • Edit the alert rule.

  • Copy the alert rule.

  • See history of edits made to the alert rule.

  • Delete the selected alert rule.

For details on alert creation see How to Create Alert.
