IE Certification Exam

Duration: 5 hours
The certification exam for the Integration Engineer series is the final step to becoming a Pricefx Certified Integration Engineer. The exam is composed of two parts: a Coding Challenge of 3 hours followed by an Interview Challenge of 1 hour.

The exam is scored as a simple PASS or FAIL, the actual score will not be publicly available. If the candidate does fail the exam, then the Interviewer will identify their specific areas of weakness.

Upon successful completion of this exam, they will receive an IE Pricefx Certification.

Pre-requisites

To be eligible for this certification exam, you must have completed the following mandatory prerequisite courses:

  • IE Prerequisites

  • IE Foundation (Live ILT)

  • IE Foundation Case Study

Additionally, you will be asked to provide the Interviewer with the following information on components used during the IE prerequisite series:

  • Partition(s) used and login credentials

  • IntegrationManager instance

  • SFTP Server and login credentials

  • Routes

  • Git projects

Mandatory Requirements

The following must be completed at least 48 hours before your scheduled certification exam:

  • Provide Interviewer with login credentials for all your IE partitions used for the prerequisite courses

  • Provide Interviewer with all IM instance names used during your training

  • Correct any issues or discrepancies identified by Interviewer

  • Attend scheduled pre-exam meeting with Interviewer to review exam requirements

  • Receive a satisfactory review on all submitted IE partitions, IM instances, Git projects and routes

  • Attend any/all meetings with Interviewer regarding prerequisite content review

Failure to complete these tasks 48 hours BEFORE the certification exam will result in your exam being CANCELED.

Exam Overview

The Integration Engineer Certification Exam is your final step in the journey to becoming a Pricefx Certified Integration Engineer. The exam is a graded on a PASS/FAIL basis. 

 

The exam is divided into two parts: 

Coding Challenge, in this component, the candidate will create a solution designed around a set of data requirements that are sent by the Interviewer. These requirements will involve creating some Pricefx objects, utilization of IM templates, building connections, defining routes, creating the data mapping, execution and basic troubleshooting.

Interview Challenge, in this phase the candidate will demonstrate their working solution, review the steps necessary, provide a solution walkthru, and answer questions on their solution and common IE concepts. 

 

PHASE I-CODING CHALLENGE  

For this phase of the exam, the candidate will develop and implement a solution that encompasses several requirements from the exam scope. There may be several small tasks to be implemented within the provided time range. 

At the start of the Coding Challenge session, you will receive an email with a PDF attachment containing the requirements for the coding challenge. Read and review this requirements document carefully to ensure you are implementing the solution properly. 

 

CODING CHALLENGE RULES

Be aware of the following rules for this phase:

  • You must attend the Coding Challenge Start meeting with the Interviewer

  • The candidate will work independently on their solution

  • This session will NOT be proctored or recorded

  • The Interviewer will NOT be allowed to answer questions during this phase

  • The candidate is allowed to use any available resources without exception

  • The exam partition is the only one that can be reviewed by Interviewer

  • There is a 3-hour limit to this phase, with no exceptions

NOTE: During this phase, be very mindful of your time management and manage your own time wisely. You DO NOT have to complete all requirements to achieve a passing score. You will be graded on what parts of the solution you have completed, and if you have completed the minimum number of requirements needed then a passing score can be achieved. 

 

PHASE II-INTERVIEW CHALLENGE  

During this phase of the exam, the candidate will be required to demonstrate a successful solution for all phases of the requirements provided during the Coding Challenge. The Interview Challenge will focus on these areas:

  • Exam Partition, review of the partition for specific structures and their data values

  • Git project, review of components in Git

  • PlatformManager/IntegrationManager, demonstration of your solution using the UI/UX of these two components

  • IM Component Review, explain each of the individual components of your solution

  • Integration Topics Q&A, explain specific data integration topics, concepts, and strategies 

 

INTERVIEW CHALLENGE RULES

Be aware of the following rules for this phase:

  • You must attend the Interview Challenge meeting with the Interviewer

  • If a candidate is MORE THAN 10 minutes late, then the exam will be scored as FAIL

  • The only PlatformManager account that can be used is Pricefx Training account

  • The candidate will have their exam partition ready and be logged in to PlatformManager

  • This session will be recorded for grading purposes

  • The Interviewer will NOT be allowed to solve or correct any errors encountered by the candidate

  • The candidate must have a working WebCam and Microphone

  • The candidate must provide a valid government ID 

  • The exam partition is the only one that can be reviewed by Interviewer

Exam Grading

The overall grade for this certification exam will be a combination of these elements: execution of deployed solution, familiarity with the UI/UX for integrations, explanation of their solution, responses during the Q&A session and overall knowledge of data integration concepts and features. 

The final grade (either pass or fail) will be provided within 2 business days of your exam.

ACHIEVING A PASSING GRADE

To achieve a passing grade, the candidate will need to do the following: 

  • Provide a minimum of 60% of implemented requirements

  • If below 60%, then provide a minimum of knowledge on concepts & strategies not implemented

  • Answer a minimum of 70% of the Interviewer's Q&A correctly

  • Demonstrate a median level of understanding of the Pricefx integration concepts

GRADE NOTIFICATION

Once all elements of the exam have been completed, you will be assigned a grade and will receive notification of your results by email with 2 business days of completion. If you have received a PASS, then you will be issued with a Certificate Number and your details will be entered on the Pricefx Certified Integration Engineer roll.

 

If you fail to achieve the necessary score, then the Interviewer (via email) will provide information on the areas of improvement for your next attempt.

The focus of the certification exam will be on the topics discussed in the IE Foundation ILT series. No additional integration topics are included within the scope of this exam. The topics included in the scope of the exam are:

  • Routes & route creation

  • Data mapping

  • Notifications & Alerts

  • Pricefx Core Data 

  • Pricefx Master Data
