Data Change Request

With Data Change Request (DCR) you can let regular users modify the data tables in Price Setting but still to:

  • Have strong control over the changes (i.e., someone has to approve the required data modifications before the changes are applied).
  • Be able to track such changes and reverse them if needed (good for data audits).

DCRs can be accessed from the Master Data menu.

Prerequisites

First, you need to set up for which specific objects the DCR should be used. This is done in Configuration in Types of Data Change Request (entitled users only).

(info) For Product or Customer Extensions with 50 columns (PX50/CX50) only the first 30 columns can be edited in a DCR, the remaining 20 columns are omitted.

Add DCR

To add and edit a DCR:

  1. Click the Add  icon.

  2. Enter a Label. Define a Type of Changes from the drop-down list. A Name (such as DCR-123) will be added automatically.
  3. Click the View/Edit Details  icon. A new screen with the details of the change request opens. For the selected type, all of the current values are listed.

  4. Make your changes – either by editing individual cells or using 99977847
The changed cells are highlighted (in gray if edited manually or other colors if mass-edited). Rows to be deleted are completely gray highlighted and the check-box Delete Row is checked.
In addition, the whole row containing a change is marked with the icon
To toggle the view, use the Show All / Show Changes Only button.

  5. Click the Submit  icon to submit your DCR for 99977847.

Mass Edit DCR

To mass edit a DCR:

  1. Select the DCR and click the View/Edit Details  icon. The Change Details window will open.
  2. You can mass edit all the items or apply a filter or select items manually.
  3. Click the Mass Edit  icon. Select the Field (column), Operator and Value which will be applied to the operator. Click the Add  icon to add more fields to edit. The confirmation button informs you how many items will be edited.
  4. After you confirm the mass edit, the changed cells are highlighted (in different color for every single mass edit applied to this DCR).
  5. Click the Submit  icon to submit your DCR for 99977847.
  • If you edit some of the values manually, these edits have the highest priority and will not be overridden by mass edit.
  • Rows marked for deletion are left out during mass edit.
  • The mass edit is not applied immediately but only when approved. Until the request is approved, you can see the coming changes – rows that are shown are modified "on the fly" on the server without being written to database. This way you can see impact of the mass change before it is actually executed.

Known limitation: When mass editing a DCR, even not modified rows change their Last Updated By / Last Update Date columns.

(tick) To modify/add the DCR data, you can also use the Excel Client

Approve DCR

To use an approval workflow for DCRs, you need to set the workflow logic first.

To approve/deny a DCR, select the row and click the Approve  icon or Deny  icon at the bottom.

You will approve or deny ALL changes. If you want to ignore a specific change, you need to enable the Ignore Changes checkbox. The row will be highlighted in red.
