Product Detail View
The Product Detail View screen (used in Products, Live Price Grids, Price Lists, Manual Price Lists and Simulations)Â shows details of the selected product(s). The view is fully configurable.
There are two display formats (set in Configure Product Detail View) that the Product Detail View can have:
Default View
Portlets are shown side by side, as many as you wish. An important difference to the other view is that each portlet can show a different SKU. Thus this view is useful for comparing different products.
What you can do here:
- Add another pane – In the View menu of the pane select 'Split Detail View'. This adds another pane where the same product is selected.
- Display different portlet – In the Category drop-down you can select from default and custom portlets which show various product details.
- Navigate to different record – Use the Previous and Next icons to move sequentially in the product list or use the Search function to find the product.
- Have the same product displayed in other portlets – Use the 'Copy to right/left pane' option from the View menu. It copies the product selection.
- Close an individual pane (or all of them) using the options from the View menu.
- Save the view using 'Save Preferences' in the View menu.
- Use the standard options available for each portlet type (add, copy, delete etc.) – see the icons at the bottom of each pane.
All of the currently displayed products are also shown in the table above the portlet panes.
Portal View
You can create any view since portlets can be placed on top of each other and you can add new columns for them. All portlets show the same SKU (selected in the product list which is always on the left). (If you need to compare different SKUs in the portlets, use the Default View.)
What you can do here:
- Customize the view using the 'Configure' menu:
- Add Portlet – Allows you to choose from a list of default and custom portlets (widgets). The selection in this drop-down can be adjusted in Configure Product Detail View. After you select a portlet, it is added at the top of the first column on the right side. You can move it to a different location by drag and drop.
- Remove Portlet – Removes the selected portlet from the right area. Closing the portlet on the right side has the same effect.
- Add Column – Adds an empty column to the right area, so that you can place portlets into it. The column is added to the last position.
- Remove Column – Removes the last column from the right area. Any portlets placed in that column will be removed too.
- Delete Preferences – Remove a private, global, or this-list-only preference (view).
- Navigate to different record – Use the Previous and Next icons to move sequentially in the product list or select the product directly from the list.
- For Live Price Grids:
- Approve/deny a record.
- Trigger calculation based on the new/updated data. All data, including the result price, is then immediately updated.
- For Price Grid Items: copy values from the the left navigation pane. Selection is only possible for a currently selected item or it can start from there if more lines are to be selected.
- Hide/show the separator between the Product list and the detailed view – by clicking the blue vertical line.
- Save the view using the 'Save' icon. The options are:
- Save the view for all lists that use the product detail view. Then you can still choose whether the saved view is private or global (available to all users).
- Save the view just for the currently opened list. This means that different price lists, LPGs, manual price lists etc. can each have their own saved view.
- Use the standard options available for each portlet type (add, copy, delete etc.) – see the icons at the bottom of each pane.
Default and Custom Portlets
The default portlets are:
- BoM (Bill of material)
- Competition
- Price Calculation
- Product Text
- Product Image
- Prices
- Products
- Product References
- Calculation DetailsÂ
- Change Requests
You can also add your own portlet representing:
- All Product Extensions – any PX table you create can be used as a portlet
- Additional tables based on Datamart – defined in Product Query Definition
- Additional charts based on Datamart – defined in Product Query Chart Definition
- Additional calculations – defined in Product Detail LogicsÂ
For example, if you have a large amount of data for one product, you may want allow your end users to view just some of this data and grouped according to their needs. Using a portlet, this can be done dynamically and without the need to duplicate the data in a PX column in a certain structure (which leads to an integration overhead for a "just in case" scenario). The solution is to configure a Product Detail Logic that gathers the data and formats it in a result matrix. It is basically a logic-driven mini dashboard inside the Product Details View. The logic gets the SKU context and is re-executed when the user changes the SKU in the left navigation list.
