Specify Waterfall Comparison Chart Details

You can predefine a default template for the the Waterfall Comparison chart in the Default Waterfall configuration section. Chart will be shown without any comparison.

  1. Go to Analytics > Data Analyzer > Waterfall Comparison.
  2. Enter the name of the data series in the Label field.
  3. (Optional) Enable the Hide data labels checkbox to display the values.
  4. Choose the data source from the Datamart drop-down list. If there is only one Datamart defined, this one will already be selected.

  5. (Optional) Enter a Currency. If not specified, the currency that has been selected as default when setting up the system will be used.

  6. You can set up the Generic filter (all dimensions, dates and values):
    1. Click the Create filter link, a new window will open.
    2. Specify the filter criteria. All fields defined in the Schema Editor can be used. Click OK to activate the filter.
(To deactivate the filter, click Edit filter and Reset. This deletes all filter criteria.)
(warning) Click the Refresh  icon at the bottom left on the Data Rows tab to activate the filter after any changes to the filter criteria.
  7. Set up filtering on master data if needed:
    • Product filter allows you to filter by all attributes from the product master data.
    • Customer filter allows you to filter by all attributes from the customer master data. Only the filtered data will be used in the analysis.

  8. You can set up a Dim filter:
    1. Select the filter dimension from the drop-down list.
    2. Click the Add  icon to add the filter. You can add up to twelve Dim filters.
  9. Determine how the data is aggregated:
Select a value from the drop-down list. The value can be defined as the total amount, per unit , percentage of the base value, contribution  or as a formula . For details, see Common Chart Settings.
  10. Click the Add Data Series  icon at the top of the Series 1 tab (details) in order to compare with other data series. There is no limit to the number of series that can be compared.

All settings (e.g. filters) are applied to the first data series.
In order to clarify the differences between waterfall elements, all the results start on the the X axis.
Changes to the waterfall of a data series are NOT automatically reflected in the other data series. The waterfall will not display properly!

  11. Determine the data formatting and labels:
    • You can change the label and the format by clicking the Dictionary  icon (see Date, Time and Number Formatting).
    • If a text is entered in the Label field, then this label will be shown. Otherwise the default value will be used.

Build Waterfall Comparison Chart

  1. Click the Add  icon at the bottom left of the menu bar.
  2. Specify the type of the new element. There are three possible types:
    •  Surcharge – Add to the element (e.g., costs as the starting point of the calculation, Percent Plus on an existing item, such as regional adjustment to prices to differentiate regionally).
    •  Reduction – Subtracts from the element (e.g., bonuses, discounts).
    •  Price point – Total or subtotal of items higher up on the list of elements.

Two price points cannot be consecutive. There must be a surcharge or reduction in between.

  3. Select the Source from the drop down list. In case the field is left empty, the system calculates the difference between the two values. This is only possible between two elements that have a data source defined.

  4. (Optional) Enter a Label. By default, the name of the data source is used.
  5. You can move elements with drag & drop.
You can delete elements by selecting the required element and clicking the Delete  icon.
  6. Click the Refresh  icon to update the chart.

  7. (Optional) Create an Aggregation filter that allows you to filter the Datamart query results, i.e., to determine, which values will be shown in the chart.
  8. You can print or download the chart as image (*.png, *.jpeg), document (*.pdf) or vector image (*.svg) by clicking the Context  icon at the top right.

If you do not save the Waterfall Comparison chart, the standard price Waterfall Comparison will be used when logging into the system again.
