Pricefx Courses Schedule and Registration

As of March 2024, Pricefx is migrating to the new learning management system and access will be granted only if you are planning to attend any scheduled instructor-led classes. Once you have registered for the class, you will have 3 months to access the content of the platform and attend the instructor-led session. After this period, your account will be deactivated automatically until you participate in the next course. All records, regarding your attendance will be saved in the system and can be requested through your success/partner manager at any time.

For Business User Training, Admin Training and Integration Engineering training you can register by booking the next available training; please see the schedule and registration guidelines.

If you want to attend the Configuration Engineering Learning Path, first you will need to schedule an interview with our training specialist and upon successful interview you will be granted access to the platform and registered for the next course intake.

Important!

Please be aware of the following guidelines regarding free cancellations or rescheduling:

  • For Business User Training, you can cancel or reschedule without any penalty up to 7 days before access to the SANA LMS system is provided.

  • For Admin Training, you can cancel or reschedule without any penalty up to 7 days before access to the SANA LMS system is provided.

  • For Integration Engineering Training, you can cancel or reschedule without any penalty up to 7 days before access to the SANA LMS system is provided.

  • For CELP Training, you can cancel or reschedule without any penalty up to 3 days before access to the SANA LMS system is provided.

If a student's registration is not canceled or rescheduled in a timely manner, a penalty fee of 100% will be charged and invoiced to the student's organisation.

A student must attend and participate in at least 90% for BUT and Admin trainings, and 100% for a CELP and IE courses to be eligible for a certificate of completion and/or to be admitted to exams. Failure to meet this requirement will result in exclusion from the class and/or ineligibility to take the certification exams.

Business User Training

Business User Training is a three-day, 3-hour a day intensive hands-on training experience guided by the business training specialist, based on our latest and greatest use cases. The classes scheduled in EMEA (Prague - CET) and US (Chicago - CST) friendly time zones.

This training is designed for Pricing Managers, Pricing Analysts, Product Managers and other business/end users planning to interact with the tool on a daily/frequent basis.

The main goals of the training:

Provide foundational knowledge about Pricefx and all core capabilities

Help all participants to get confident in navigating Pricefx

Guide users in discovering key use case scenarios within Pricefx capabilities

Admin User Training

Admin User Training is a three-day, 3-hour a day intensive hands-on training experience guided by the technical training specialist. This is good training for building internal self-sufficiency and adopting the tool faster.

This training is designed for Super Users, System Administrators, IT Administrators and other technical users who will provide internal support (1st and 2nd) to the end users.

The main goals of the training:

Provide the admin level of knowledge of the Pricefx system

Help all participants to get confident in user admin, data management & entitlement, troubleshooting

Demonstrate an extended range of Pfx capabilities that can utilised by different users

The training curriculum includes:

  • User and Group Management

  • Pricefx Releases and Updates Management

 

Day 2

  • Data Management (Master Data, Datamarts, Data Feeds, Data Loads, Data Sources)

Integration Engineering Learning Path

Integration Engineering Learning Path is a two-day, 4-hour a day intensive hands-on instructor-led training guided by the technical training specialist and, study guides, articles from Pricefx knowledge base, hands-on exercises, quizzes and surveys that are finalized by the certification exam. In order to qualify to work with Pricefx integration, all training participants should pass certification exam. This is good training for building internal integration self-sufficiency. The total time investment is ~ 40 hours over 4 weeks.


This training is designed for developers who

  • recently worked with an Object-Oriented Programming Language (like Java) in a hands-on, project-based manner for 12 months or more.

  • recently worked with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to create development projects for 12 months or more. (note: The Pricefx standard IDE is IntelliJ).

The main goals of the training:

  • to understand how the data integration process works and typical data integration processes

  • to provide understanding of integration infrastructure and its usage

  • to train on enterprise integration patterns, use of PlatformManager, IntegrationManager and integration templates

The expected outcome of the Integration Engineering Learning Path:

  • The candidate can work with the Platform Manager tool to create IntegrationManager instances.

  • The candidate will understand the location and the proper way to access the various code components created after implementing a Template in a partition and how to assign permissions to access the various code components created after implementing a Template in a partition.

  • The candidate will understand the need for Data Cleansing before implementing a Template based route.


Day 1 of Training

  • What is covered

    • Pricefx Platform Manager tool and the associated Integration Manager tool.

    • Concepts of Pricefx Integration Templates to integrate non-Pricefx systems into the Pricefx environment.

    • Configuring and testing basic integrations

  • Recommended student background

Day 1 requires a minimal technical background and is suitable for students with solid development experience. The recommended student knowledge is an understanding of the basic concepts of Integration challenges ( different table/column structures between disparate systems, different file types used for export/import of data between systems, additional transport requirements for export/import of data between systems)

Day 2 of Training

  • What is covered

    • Pricefx Integration Templates affect data integration between Pricefx and other systems—discussing available templates and usage recommendations.

    • Configuration / Selection of the default Pricefx Integration Templates for integration-specific needs ( SAP, SalesForce, CSV-based integrations, File based integrations, etc. ). Pricefx recommendations for integration.

    • Modification of the Pricefx Integration Templates to accommodate business-specific requirements

    • Usage of GitHub to access the Pricefx Integration Templates

    • Use IntelliJ Idea to manipulate, adjust, and test modifications to the Pricefx Integration Templates.

    • Running Pricefx integrations from a local development environment

The learning path flow:

  • Business user self-study – 3-4 hours with the knowledge assessment test.

  • Integration Engineering technical training – 8 hours

  • Additional optional self-study study for custom solutions & QA with Pricefx trainer - ~ 10 hours

  • Final project – 6-8 hours, verification of the knowledge acquired during the class and help to prepare for the certification exam.

  • Exam preparation and exam partition review – 1 hour, verification of the exam readiness.

  • Certification exam – 3 hours, recorded and later reviewed by the examiner.

  • Certification confirmation – 2-3 days after the exam, depending on the examiner's availability.

What this training is NOT covering:

  • Configuration logics creation and maintenance​

  • Solution Development Aspects

    • Basic requirements outlined for Day 1 students

    • Professional programming experience of at least two years of object-oriented programming, ideally Java, Groovy or C++.

    • Understand data structures (Arrays, Maps, etc.), algorithmising and coding skills (variables, loops, conditions), and Groovy language features (syntax, operators, closures).

    • Solid working knowledge of a modern IDE (IntelliJ Idea or other) and GIT (feature branches, checkout, pull, push, commit, rebase, amend, merge, stash).

    • Good understanding of the Apache Camel integration framework. Specifically, the XML DSL variant.

Configuration Engineering Learning Path

Configuration Engineering Learning Path is an intensive 8-week technical training program that will equip aspiring configuration engineers with foundational skills. Participants will undergo a comprehensive curriculum led by experienced instructors, combining Instructor-Led Training (ILT) sessions and self-study components. The total investment of time is ~90 hours over 8 weeks (time investment depends a lot on the person’s background and development skills).


This training is designed for developers who

  • Has proven Professional programming experience with at least two years of object-oriented programming (i.e. Java).

  • Has extensive solution development, problem-solving, testing and troubleshooting skills.

  • Understand data structures (Arrays, Maps, etc.), algorithmising and coding skills (variables, loops, conditions), and Groovy language features (syntax, operators, closures).

  • Experience with databases and data, ideally SQL, working with tables and examining data. 

  • Working knowledge of IDE (IntelliJ Idea or other) and GIT (feature branches, checkout, pull, push, commit, rebase, amend, merge, stash).

  • Good spoken and written English, we require CEFR B2 level. Must have the ability to communicate, be confident to express their thoughts, and understand technical documentation and requirements. 

The main goals of the training:

  • To understand the foundational principles of configuration of Pricefx solution within Analytics, Price Setting and Quotes capabilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain the existing logics, make changes to the data tables, implement new requirements


The Program Flow

Duration: 8 Weeks

Objective: This intensive 8-week technical training program will equip aspiring configuration engineers with foundational skills. Participants will undergo a comprehensive curriculum led by experienced instructors, combining Instructor-Led Training (ILT) sessions and self-study components.

Prerequisites:

  • Successful completion of pre-assessment in a 1-1 interview (30 min) with a technical training specialist. The interview preparation tips and interview registration can be found here.

  • Installation of necessary tools (Git, IntelliJ, PriceFX Studio Plugin).

  • Basic knowledge of GIT and Groovy.

Key Training Components:

  1. Instructor-Led Training (ILT) Sessions:

    • Weekly 1-2 ILT sessions led by technical trainers to confirm the understanding of the key concepts and let the participants present their working results.

    • Each session lasts around 90 minutes.

  2. Self-Study:

    • Students are expected to dedicate additional time to self-study each week to do the practical exercises and deepen their skills in particular topics.

  3. Exit Points:

    • Every two weeks, there are exit points for students failing the assignments and not attending the sessions.

    • Criteria for exit points include attendance in ILT sessions and completion of mandatory exercises.

  4. Certification Exam:

    • Eligible students who attend ILT sessions and complete all exercises can take the certification exam on week 8.

    • Successful candidates receive certification.

  5. Post-Certification Advancement:

    • Certified individuals progress to the advanced on-demand training series to further improve their knowledge.

    • Duration: 1 week

    • Time Commitment: 5-12 hours

  2. Technical Training Path:

    • Duration: 8 weeks

  3. Advanced Training after Certification:

  • A new group of attendees can start the training every two weeks.

This program is tailored to individuals with a solid technical background, ensuring they gain the necessary skills to excel as configuration engineers. Successful completion opens doors to advanced training opportunities and real-world application of their knowledge.


Program structure:

Step 1: Interview the trainer to determine a fit for the program. During the interview, the candidate will need to demonstrate his knowledge in Java, Git and programming basics, as well as B2 and a higher level of English. The task will be provided in advance to prepare. More details about the interview and registration can be found here.

Step 2: Upon a successful interview, the trainer will register the candidate for the next entry point of the CE learning path, which is spread over 8 weeks with 8-12 hours of weekly time investment. The schedule for the complete 8 weeks with dates of live sessions will be shared with the student in advance.

Registration for the Configuration Engineering Learning Path Interview

The technical interview for the Groovy programming position is designed to assess your proficiency in Groovy programming language and your problem-solving skills. The interview is 30 minutes long and is a mandatory step before Configuration Engineer learning path. 


The interview will consist of two main parts: 

Code Review and Discussion: 

  • You will be asked to submit your implementation of a specific Groovy assignment before the interview. The assignment will be provided to you beforehand, and you are expected to complete it within the given timeframe. 

  • During the interview, the interviewer will review your code and ask questions to assess your understanding of the problem, your approach to solving it, and the quality of your code. Be prepared to explain your code design decisions, justify your implementation choices, and discuss any trade-offs you made. 

  • The interviewer may also ask you to make modifications to your code or solve related problems based on the original assignment. 

Problem-Solving and Technical Questions: 

  • You will be presented with additional coding problems or scenarios related to Groovy programming language. 

  • These problems may range from basic syntax and language features to more complex algorithmic challenges. 

  • The interviewer will assess your ability to analyze problems, devise efficient solutions, and write clean and maintainable code. 

  • Be prepared to discuss your thought process, explain your solutions, and optimize your code if necessary. 


Preparation Tips: 

  • Review Groovy programming language fundamentals, including syntax, data types, loops, lists, maps, dates, generics, closures

  • Ensure that you understand the assignment requirements thoroughly and submit a well-commented and structured codebase. 

  • Practice explaining your code and thought process aloud, as communication skills are an important aspect of the interview.
