Introduction 

Today we'll be exploring creating and using Quote Types in Pricefx.

 

With Quote Types you can speed up the process of creating a new quote.

 

What is a Quote Type?

A Quote Type is a template that specifies the logic that calculates the quote results, it can define user input parameters as well as the workflow approval logic and provides opportunities to restrict edit or view access to a specific group. 

You can define several Quote Types and then quickly create quotes based on different pricing logic without the need to change the default pricing logic or other global settings.

 With Quote Types you can significantly speed up the process of creating similar quote.

Existing Quote Types

Quote Types are located on the Quoting Menu under Quote Types. Let's navigate there are have a look.

Here you can see a number of existing quote types that when you create a new quote are presented as templates for you to select from. 

Quote Type Information

We can see the information you need as you create your own. Here you can see the unique name, which cannot be changed once it's created.

The Last Update Date and then the Pricing Logic, which are pre-built parameters to meet various organizational strategies. Here we can see we have CPQ Logic, and also CPQ Logic for larges quotes as well as a large quotes light version, along with a Value Estimator Quote Logic. 

Then the Header Logic, which determines the configuration of the Pricing Waterfall or any other header that your organization has pre-configured.

And then the Workflow Logic which determines who has approval rights on a quote and lastly the User Group Edit and View Details. 

Creating a Quote Type

So let's try create one. We can do that in two ways, firstly if there's a quote type that's similar to what you're looking for you can simply select it and hit duplicate and then proceed to make the necessary changes.

This is a great tool if you want to create templates to save you and your colleagues time and if you want to restrict access to only a certain user group too.
